​Howling Acres is a home based Grooming and Dog Boarding facility.  Take comfort leaving your dogs in a caring, loving and safe enviroment.  

 

Ever since Rebecca Warner was a small girl, she has had a love and passion for animals of all shapes and sizes.  As a child she would volunteer at the local SPCA in her home town of Dawson Creek, by walking & brushing dogs and cats.  Throughout her childhood, she conned her parents into adopting several dogs (Shadow a German Shepherd, Amber a husky mix, and Brutus a Rottweiler), 4 cats (Luna, Tibbles, Tabitha, & Rocko), and several rodents (George the Gerbil, Harry & Ron the Degu's, Pat the Hamster). 

 

After graduation, Rebecca persued the trade of Carpentry.  She worked as a carpenter for 7 years, doing everything from foundation to finish work.  As much as she enjoyed the trade, she always wished she could get a career where she could bring her dogs to work with her.

 

In the early winter months of 2012, work brought Rebecca and her Fiance Tanner to Smithers BC.  After falling in love with the community & the landscape, they decided to settle down and buy a small hobby farm together.  There, they adopted 4 dogs: Odin (a large mixed breed redscue dog), Molly (Border Collie/Austrailian Shepherd), George (Long Haired Chihuahua), & Beverly (an elderly, rescued yellow lab).

 

During the Christmas of 2013, Rebecca and Tanner decided to start dog sitting from their home.  After word spread, and the demand grew, they eventaully started to plan the expansion of their dog kennel.  In Spring of 2015, they were able to fence off a 8250 sqft dog park, adjoining the heated kennel-house.

 

In late 2014, Rebecca became interested in the world of dog grooming.  She was fortunate enough to have the oppertunity to shadow a couple of local groomers (Aidan Brame of All Fur Love Dog Grooming, and Jessy Taggart of Jessy's Dogtown Grooming) and took a grooming course through online corespondance.   In August of 2015, Rebecca took the plunge into grooming and opperating the kennel full time (and hasn't looked back!).

 

Rebecca has completed the Walks n' Wags Pet First Aid training course and succesfully completed a comprehensive program in Pet Grooming through the International Career School of Canada.
